Stellite & Cobalt
Alloy Grades

Comprehensive specifications for our cobalt-based wear-resistant alloy grades -- including chemical compositions, equivalent international standards, and applicable product forms.

Stellite 1 is a high-hardness cobalt-based alloy designed for severe abrasion, erosion, and metal-to-metal wear environments. It offers excellent hot hardness and corrosion resistance, making it suitable for cutting tools, valve trim, extrusion tooling, and wear-resistant industrial components operating under extreme conditions.

Chemical Composition

Stellite 20 is designed for applications requiring excellent corrosion resistance combined with moderate wear resistance. Its good thermal stability and resistance to chemical attack make it suitable for sealing components, chemical processing equipment, and high-temperature industrial applications.

Chemical Composition

Co Base Cr 32.5 W 17.5 C 2.5 Ni <2.0 Others Mo, Fe, Si Hardness 53-62 HRC Density 8.77 g/cm3

Equivalent Grades

Stellite 21 is a cobalt-based alloy known for its outstanding corrosion resistance, thermal stability, and resistance to thermal fatigue. It is widely used in valve stems, steam valves, medical components, and high-temperature sealing applications where toughness and corrosion resistance are more important than maximum hardness.

Chemical Composition

Co Base Cr 26-29 Mo 4.5-6.0 C <0.35 Ni <3.0 Others Fe, Si, Mn Hardness 27-40 HRC Density 8.33 g/cm3

Stellite 4 is a cobalt-chromium-tungsten alloy with balanced wear resistance and toughness. It performs well under impact and adhesive wear conditions and is widely used for bearing surfaces, sealing areas, and wear-resistant overlays in industrial equipment.

Chemical Composition

Co Base Cr 30 W 14 C 1 Others Mn, Fe, Si, Ni Hardness 45-49 HRC Density 8.61 g/cm3

Equivalent Grades

UNS R30404 Castings and Powder

Stellite 6 is the most widely used general-purpose cobalt alloy, offering an excellent combination of wear resistance, corrosion resistance, heat resistance, and galling resistance. It is commonly applied in valve seats, valve balls, bushings, pump components, and hardfacing applications across oil & gas, power generation, and industrial processing industries.

Chemical Composition

Co Base Cr 27-32 W 3-6 C 0.9-1.4 Others Ni, Fe, Si, Mn, Mo Hardness 36-45 HRC Density 8.44 g/cm3
